Was curious by the idea of changing filters only once a month. I change mine after each use. the amazing part is you can run those little devils through the dishwasher and they are as good as new. Happy cleaning! :D

I love my Neato and find it works best when I change the filter fairly often. I have 3 long haired dogs who shed a lot and I have my Neato clean most every day. My problem is the cost of the filters. I believe they should be changed every month to 6 weeks ( even though I clean them after each use) and at approximately $20.00 each, that is quite an expense. I would like to be able to purchase a larger pack than is now available and for a far better price.

After its first month of operation, cleaning our home each and every day of the week, it was time to replace the Pet & Allergy Filter in our Neato XV-21. With a new Pet & Allergy filter, the dust and debris picked up by the Neato XV-21 is forced to the rear of the dust bin, appearing to gather inside the filter in a layer-by-layer basis. As we clean our home daily with the Neato XV-21, emptying the dust bin is a once-per-day affair. With a one-month-old Pet & Allergy filter we were emptying the dust bin at least twice per day as the debris was not as compacted within the dust bin due to back pressure caused by a filter that was obviously not as free-flowing as a brand new one. Note that the house was not any dirtier, but the dust bin did have to be emptied more frequently. It was simply time for a filter change. I feel that a once-a-month filter change for this unit is beyond my expectations, and is possible only because of the shear amount of filter area present with the new Pet & Allergy filters when compared with the earlier Neato single-sheet filters used with previous Neato models and the single sheet filters used by other robotic floor cleaning robots. The new multi-folded Pet & Allergy filters by Neato are impressive.
The Pet and Allergy filter is not a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter and, IMHO (in my humble opinion), it does not need to be a HEPA filter unit to be effective. Allergens are likely to be proteinaceous. Allergens adsorb to larger particles, e.g., dust particles, in your home and you likely won't need a HEPA filter to reduce pet dander and/or allergens in your home if the machine you use is effective in dust removal. The Neato Pet & Allergy filter is an excellent-quality, large surface area, multi-folded air filter that is effective in allergen removal when used in conjunction with the Neato XV-21.
As for the replacement brush unit with the helical brush and silicone rubber squeegee unit, our original brush unit is still flexible, clean, and in good shape, with no cuts or splits, so no replacement is needed after the first month of daily use. We'll keep you posted, but so far, so good!
The frequency of sniffles and sneezes inside our home due to allergies is markedly reduced, and we're all feeling great and enjoying our two big dogs in our very clean home. Thanks, Neato.
